VISIT COMANCHE

The city of Comanche, named for the Comanche Indians, was established as the trade center for surrounding ranchers and farmers in 1856. Rich in pioneer and Texas history, there are over 65 registered landmarks in the county. Comanche has a diversified economic base with ranching and farming continuing to be predominant. Visitors and residents alike are attracted to the unique gift shops, various restaurants, and local artisans’ creations.

Great camping, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking trails, golf and water sports can be found at nearby Lake Proctor. Our 42 acre City Park, Twin Creek Hiking Trails, and Community Center attract many visitors and families throughout the year. Hunting is ideal in Comanche boasting a variety of opportunities. 

Take a stroll around our beautiful historical court house square and our central business district. There are many shopping and dining opportunities to encompass everyone’s taste.
