Every 4th weekend in September, Comanche, Texas hosts the Pow Wow. It is a weekend of true Texan fun! Here is what you can expect to experience while at the festival!

Cookoff

The Pow Wow’s 38th Annual Barnie McBee BarBeque, is a Lone Star Bar-B Que Society sanctioned Cook Off. Over 40 Teams fire up their grills and compete for over $1500.00 in prize money and awards to see who has the best brisket, ribs, chicken, beans and Dutch oven desserts!  The Cookers will cook all night and into the next morning waiting on the judging to begin at 11:00 am with beans and continuing until 4:00 pm with the finale being the brisket.  The awards ceremony takes place after the last brisket has been judged.

Local Food Vendors

Hungry from smelling the BBQ cooking? No worries! You can hit up one of the many food vendors with interesting fare to snack on.

Artisan Vendors

Not only can you eat local, but you can shop from local artisans as well. Take a stroll through booths of unique crafts and goods. A perfect place to get a jump on your Christmas shopping list or to just treat yourself!

Fun For All Ages

Pow Wow is more than shopping and food! There is fun to be had for any age. Kids can enjoy face painting, bounce houses, games, and more! Check out the schedule of children’s activities.

Antique Car Show

For all of you motor heads, one of the largest antique car shows in Texas is held at City park. Come check out these classic beauties!

Snake Farm… No… Gator Country!

A new addition to the Pow Wow this year is a gator show. Gator Country is an alligator and reptile rescue. You can hold, touch, and learn about a variety of reptiles.

And, of Course… Live Music!

Like any good Texas event, there will be live music throughout the day. So kick back, enjoy the smell of good bbq, snack on some local fare, and enjoy the sounds of a variety of music from Red Dirt Texas to music from Centro de Adoracion y Alabanza.
