Proctor Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reservoir along the Leon River located in Comanche County in the U.S. state of Texas. Around 3 miles west of Proctor, Texas, USA. Proctor Lake Dam and the reservoir are managed by the Fort Worth District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Since 1963, Proctor Lake has served as Comanche County’s hidden gem. Nestled in the rich Leon River valleys and bottomlands, Proctor Lake boasts vibrant wildlife and wildflowers. Proctor Lake provides excellent crappie, catfish, and hybrid bass fishing from either the shore or a boat. Three public hunting areas provide permitted hunters fantastic opportunity to chase wood ducks, teal, gadwall, widgeons, mallards, and pintails, or stalk massive feral hogs along the banks of the Leon and Sabana Rivers. Seven paved boat ramps provide easy lake access for boaters and anglers, while three parks allow tent, trailer, and RV campers alike to enjoy the peaceful lake views under the shade of oaks older than the lake. Whether you visit for the day or camp for the weekend, Proctor Lake’s simple tranquility and ample recreation opportunities will have you coming back again and again
